Hokie Pro Golf - Week 30 - Everybody Plays
I can't remember a week where so may Hokie Golfers are playing in so few tournaments. There are only 6 owgr/rolex ranking events this week and 4 of them have Hokies and 2 have multiple Hokies. For those curious, the Nordic Golf League and the Japan LPGA are the tours without Hokies this week.
The highlight of the week is Amanda Hollandsworth making her Symetra Tour debut in Battle Creek, Michigan for the Firekeepers Hotel Casino Championship at the Battle Creek Country Club. This is a 54 hole event running Friday to Sunday.
Scott Vincent is off to an early start this week at the European Tour's British Masters at Close House GC in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. He is -2 after the first round in a tie for 29th. This is a Wednesday-Saturday event. It is the first of a six week UK swing. Scott on his social media stated his intention to play all six weeks. This is a full European event, so the points will be double what they were during the Austria swing. The top 25 should get OWGR points this week.
On the PGA Tour. Both Johnson Wagner and Brenden de Jonge are in the field this week at the 3M Open in Blaine, Michigan at the TPC Twin Cities.
This is de Jonge's fifth start of the season. He has made 1 cut (T64 in Puerto Rico) and is T249 in the points going into this week. this is his first event at TPC Twin Cities.
Wagner is making his 9th start of the season, having made 3 cuts (Puerto Rico, Rocket Morgage and Greenbrier). His best finish was a T35 in Puerto Rico and he currently stands 222nd in the FedEx Cup. Wagner finished 23rd last year in his only other previous start at TPC Twin Cities.
Drew Weaver, Trevor Cone and Joey Lane are all playing at the Korn Ferry's Price Cutter Charity Championship at Highland Springs CC in Springfield, MO.
This is Joey Lane's second event this season and the first where he went directly into the field. He missed the cut at his previous Korn Ferry start.
Drew Weaver is 6 for 10 making cuts this year with one Top 10 (T7 at LECOM Suncoast). He is currently 69th on the points list. He has missed the cut in 2 of his 3 previous events at Highland Springs. His only finish was a 44th in 2016.
Trevor Cone is 4 for 9 making cuts with his only Top 10 being a T9 in Bogota, Columbia. He is 104th on the points list. Cone finished 23rd last year in his only other attempt at Highland Springs
